March 2010 - Octo-Wireless Adds New Dimension to Its Wireless Offerings
WCAI member Octo-Wireless has added a new dimension to its wireless mesh
offerings with a new release for the fourth-generation Freedom Node.
The Freedom Node is a multi-purpose, multi-radio, multi-frequency
system, available as powerful access point, mesh router, WiMAX
backhaul system and point-to-multipoint system with a throughput
of 30Mbps or more. The outdoor Freedom Node can be equipped with
four radio cards in a balanced mix of radio cards working in the
700MHz, 900MHz, 2.3GHz, 2.4GHz, 2.6-2.9GHz, 3.4-3.7GHz, 3.65GHz
U.S. band, 4.9GHz and 5GHz frequencies. The new software release
for the Freedom Node adds configurable channel widths to the
different bands. This adjustable channel width capability, in
combination with hardware compression, allows the Freedom Node
to achieve a TCP/IP throughput of up to 14Mbps while using only
5MHz of spectrum, or up to 30Mbps when using 10MHz of spectrum.
“When used with the highest bandwidth setting of 20MHz the Freedom
Node
achieves up to 54Mbps TCP/IP throughput, making the Freedom
Node
perfect for dedicated access or backhaul applications”
